What if you didn't spiral today? Why focusing on what's directly in front of you creates more peace

Jun 03, 2025

Ever feel like your brain is stuck in an endless maze of What ifs?

You take one turn—What if I mess this up?—hit a wall, backtrack, try another route—What if this was the wrong choice?—and before you know it, you’re looping in circles, mentally exhausted, and somehow right back where you started.

It’s like when a patient walks in after an intense WebMD session, absolutely convinced their mild headache is step one of an epic medical mystery. All that worrying, and yet… no new answers. Just more stress.

But WHAT IF, instead of chasing every hypothetical dead end, you looked for the one clear path right in front of you—the What is?

  • What is true in this moment?

  • What do I actually know for sure?

  • What is the next small step I can take?

The thing about mental mazes is that they feel productive—like if you just turn one more corner, you’ll finally solve it. But most of the time, the exit isn’t in more thinking—it’s in pausing and coming back to where you actually are.

So the next time your brain tries to lure you into the “What if” labyrinth, pause. Take a breath.

Come back to what is. It’s the only place you ever really need to be.

It’s because the goal never got a system. We tend to set goals as if they’re self-executing. Eat ...
So I guess I'm handling this: If only resentment could make others change
Resentment tends to show up in people who are generous, capable, and very good at handling things. It usually doesn’t start as anger. It starts as accommodation. Saying yes because it feels easier. Staying quiet to keep things smooth. Taking one for the team. At first, this can look like maturity. Or professionalism. Or being low maintenance. Then something shifts. You notice a tightness. A sho...
