No time for goals: A quick exercise to get some clarity

Jan 30, 2025

Let's talk about something we hear from physicians all the time:

"I want things to be different, but I'm not even sure what I'm aiming for."

We get it. When you're busy surviving, figuring out how to clarify your own goals can feel like just another thing on the to-do list.

Let's try something different. A tiny experiment, if you will:

Take 30 seconds (yes, really - we know you're busy).
Close your eyes and travel forward six months in time:
You're walking into your everyday life, but something feels different. Better.
What's the first thing that feels lighter? What's missing that's currently exhausting you? How are you showing up differently?

No need to figure out the 'how' yet. Just let yourself imagine that future moment.

Perhaps you glimpsed a sense of calm replacing the constant rush. Maybe you felt more energy for the things that matter, or experienced clearer boundaries without the guilt. Perhaps you even imagined enjoying medicine again.

If your analytical mind is already jumping to "But HOW?"
We want you to know - this is exactly where PLB shines.

In PLB, we help busy physician moms bridge the gap between "I want things to be different" and "Wow, things ARE different." You'll transform those fuzzy feelings into clear direction, finding solutions that actually work for your real life.

You don't need to have it all figured out. That's what we're here for.

When did you decide that: Maybe it's been true for long enough
One of the nice things about medicine is that we're expected to change our minds. New evidence comes out. Guidelines get updated. Best practices evolve. If someone proudly announced they were still practicing exactly the way they learned twenty years ago because "that's how I've always done it," we'd all be a little concerned. So here's a question:When was the last time you updated the standard...
#100: One hundred Tuesdays. Thank you for spending them with us
Almost two years ago, we sent our first Weekly Boost. We hoped it might make someone's Tuesday a little lighter. Today is our 100th Tuesday. One hundred little reminders that life doesn't have to be lived quite so hard. Over these past hundred Tuesdays, we've shared a lot of ideas. That peace isn't waiting at the end of the to do list. That feelings are messengers, not dictators. That validation ...
Promotion denied: The best news you didn't know you needed
One of the sneakiest ways we make life harder than it needs to be is by accidentally taking responsibility for jobs that were never ours.  And we’re not talking about doing our teenager’s laundry for them.  We're talking about emotional jobs. The invisible ones we assign ourselves without even realizing it.  We tell someone how we feel... then think it's our job to make sure they understand per...
